Ubisoft, on the other hand, declared that it will be giving out salary rises to help stem the flow of important talent to other studios and industries. Lower-level workers will get a 5% to 7% salary boost, while executives will receive a 20% pay raise.

Officially, Ubisoft claims that the surprise increase is due to a shift in the Canadian market, but a modern game developer, according to Kotaku, has a different perspective: “They’re urgently trying to cling on to what few experienced developers are still here.”

Ubisoft replied to the rise by claiming that it “did little to answer the group’s primary requests.”
