You Can’t Deny That Tom Brady’s NFL Career Is Anything but Amazing

After setting several NFL records during his time in the league, Tom Brady finally broke the elusive “passing yards” record during the 2016 season—and it came in Week 6, against his former team.

At the age of 40, Tom Brady has already won three Super Bowls, has appeared in two losing Super Bowls, and has led the Patriots to three straight AFC Championship Games. Now, at age 40-41, Brady is attempting to play in his fourth Super Bowl in six years, after winning his third Super Bowl MVP in the last five years. He’s led the NFL in touchdowns four times, in passing yards three times, in completions twice, in passing touchdowns twice, in wins twice. He’s led the NFL in number of games with 30+ completions in five straight seasons. He’s led the NFL in passing yards in 15 of his 21 completed seasons. He’s led the NFL

Only five players have ever earned the NFL MVP award more than once: Peyton Manning, Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, who are still on the field. Rodgers is a couple years behind Brady in terms of Super Bowl rings and reputation, but it’s virtually impossible for him — or anybody — to catch him.

It takes a little amount of luck to win the Lombardi Trophy seven times. However, Tom Terrific’s career has battled against the odds in several respects.

An unexpected start to a career as a GOAT

Brady began his football career at the University of Michigan, where he played four years in the Big Ten Conference. The scrawny youngster shown glimmers of the brilliance that would propel him to the top of the NFL’s all-time list. But he didn’t do anything to set himself apart from more experienced quarterbacks.

Donovan McNabb was selected second overall in the draft a year before Brady. With his amazing speed, McNabb quickly redefined the quarterback position, casting doubt on Brady’s abilities (who infamously ran a 5.28 40-yard dash at the NFL combine).

Brady never got much quicker after settling into the New England system as the 199th overall draft selection. His competitive spirit and will to succeed, however, compensated for his lack of rushing ability. With Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, Brady won six Super Bowls and three MVP honors while surrounded by ever-changing receivers. In 2010, the California native became the first player to win the MVP award unanimously.

The sorrow of 18-1 and the subsequent healing

Brady led the Patriots to an infamous 18-1 season in 2007. The Giants’ first flawless regular season in decades did nothing to soften the blow of the Lombardi Trophy being stolen from them. The Patriots didn’t win the Super Bowl again for another seven years. They did it in the 2014, 2016, and 2018 seasons, however.

After a 2019 wild-card defeat to the Titans, the Patriots ultimately let Brady go, thinking the 42-year-old was beyond his prime. The quarterback moved to Tampa Bay, where he immediately supplanted Jameis Winston as the starter and reconnected with one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history (the then-retired Rob Gronkowski.)

Brady accomplished just enough in his debut season in Florida to bring the club into the wild card game, which they won on the road against Washington. Then, after victories in New Orleans and a 31-26 thriller in Green Bay, they earned the opportunity to come home and compete in the Super Bowl in their own stadium.

At home, Tom Brady won the Super Bowl.

Raymond James Stadium was fewer than half filled when the Buccaneers hosted the Kansas City Chiefs because of coronavirus limitations. However, the small crowd inspired the defense, which shut down one of the most entertaining teams of this century. No touchdowns were scored by Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, or rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Experience overcame young on the other side of the ball, as Brady, Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, and Leonard Fournette combined for 31 points in a 22-point victory. Brady’s emphatic victory in his new home stadium at 43 years old threatens to redefine what an aging quarterback is expected to do.

Packers legend Brett Favre was driven out of town to make room for Rodgers, which worked out well for Green Bay, but what would have happened if the Packers had constructed a squad around the Gunslinger in the early 2010s? Or maybe Brady is a one-in-a-billion kind of guy. The latter seems to be the more probable scenario.

Brady probably doesn’t have much of a personal life for someone who is so focused and determined on the football field. After all, the morning after the Super Bowl triumph, he FaceTimmed a Buccaneers coach to talk about how they might win again in 2021. But, when he’s not on the field, how does a focused quarterback unwind? Brady, the family guy, turns out to be the GOAT of the offseason as well.

Gisele Bündchen is Tom Brady’s wife.

Brady is married to Gisele Bündchen, one of the most renowned women in sports. Even though she wishes he would call it a profession, the supermodel goes above and beyond to support her husband while he competes at the top level.

Bündchen is all-in when it comes to helping him prepare as long as he’s on the field. The Brazilian model is completely engaged in Brady’s success, even though it isn’t part of the usual pre-game warmups. It seems logical, after all; he is the earner, right?

Surprisingly, the marriage’s wealthiest member is not the greatest football player of all time (worth over $250 million). Bündchen is clearly worth almost twice as much as Brady, since the two just co-invested to increase their $650 million net worth.

Bündchen may be the highest-paid supermodel in history, with a net worth of almost $400 million. Despite the fact that she is no longer actively modeling, she still earns approximately $40 million each year from fashion and fragrance contracts.

Tom Brady’s career was revived when he left the Patriots.

Brady was associated with New England for the first 20 seasons of his NFL career. When the club won a Super Bowl or was found cheating, he shared the triumph (and the shame) with Bill Belichick. It was unclear if Brady’s arm or Belichick’s scheme was the driving force behind the Patriots’ success.

Brady, on the other hand, decided to retire in Tampa Bay, where he seems to be more popular than ever. Winning the Super Bowl in his first season with the Buccaneers boosted his profile considerably, but there seems to be much more under the surface.

Perhaps it’s his desire to distance himself from Belichick and New England, or perhaps it’s the fact that Brady chose to join an underachieving franchise rather than surround himself with talent (though this isn’t necessarily true now that Gronkowski has returned and Antonio Brown has joined the team).

Touchdown Tom is a tequila connoisseur.

Brady’s overindulgence during Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl party has been with him since the conclusion of last season. The usually reserved quarterback became wasted, staggered about, and even tossed the Lombardi Trophy from one boat to another, a far cry from his clean plant-based superfood diet.

Brady will go down in history as the greatest quarterback, whether he returns next year (probable) or wins another Super Bowl (also a possibility). Can he pull off the ultimate robbery in his last years and cement his reputation as one of the most popular? For the last 20 years, supporters, particularly AFC fans, have despised him. But in his mid-40s, as an elderly player trying his best? He’d be universally praised if it were anybody else. Brady, on the other hand, seems to be winning over NFL fans one step at a time in Tampa Bay.

The quarterback’s recent seasons have not been without drama. His involvement in the Deflategate incident resulted in a four-game ban. He also made news when it was revealed that the Buccaneers covered up his knee ailment for the whole 2020 season.

Another scandal: Brady’s TB12 firm got PPP loans at a time when many other companies were in financial trouble. Has the GOAT’s reputation been damaged as a result of this (or anything else)?

Deflategate was the catalyst for Tom Brady’s third act.

Prior to the AFC championship game in 2015, the New England Patriots (Brady’s club at the time) were discovered letting air out of footballs. They went on to defeat the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 45-7. Brady was suspended for four games in 2016 after the NFL investigated (and investigated, and investigated, as NFL fans are well aware).

Regrettably for the league, Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett stepped in and led the Patriots to a 3-1 start. Brady’s suspension ended in Week 5 and he regained control of the offense.

The Patriots went on to go 11-1 the remainder of the season, cruised through the playoffs, and defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX The Deflategate penalty delayed Brady’s pursuit for the all-time passing records, but it didn’t stop his team from winning the Lombardi Trophy.

With a torn MCL in his knee, he will miss the 2020 season.

Brady was dealt to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a couple years after Deflategate. While the squad was anticipated to play well, dethroning the reigning Kansas City Chiefs remained a long shot. However, the Buccaneers earned a wild-card berth in the playoffs and went on to win the Super Bowl 31-9 by shutting down the Chiefs’ potent attack.

What’s most remarkable about Brady’s amazing season is that he seemed to have played the whole season with a partly torn MCL in his knee. He eventually underwent much-needed surgery after they won the Super Bowl.

Sure, it’s a happy tale. However, clubs must disclose player injuries to the NFL. After two decades of breaking the rules in New England, Tampa Bay seems to be on the verge of adopting some of the same shady practices. Brady, on the other hand, entered the game and threw 40 touchdown passes (a franchise record). He didn’t seem to be in too much pain.

Backlash over TB12’s PPP loan

When COVID-19 arrived in the United States in 2020, the government did all it could to assist struggling companies. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) provided loans to small companies who were having difficulty paying their employees.

Brady, whose net worth was estimated to be about $200 million at the time, gladly took a loan of almost a million dollars. It’s obvious that TB12 didn’t need it to survive. Hundreds of thousands of people signed a petition demanding that Brady refund the money. It’s just another blemish on the legend’s resume.

Is Brady on the verge of retiring?

Father Time can only be slowed so much with TB12 electrolytes and a good diet. Every time Brady walks onto the field, NFL fans know it might be his last. He just turned 44, and he’s just four years away from breaking George Blanda’s record.

Blanda spent the last ten years of his NFL career as a placekicker. Brady is staying in the pocket on every play, absorbing a flurry of hard hits throughout the game. Brady, on the other hand, isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

He obviously enjoys the sport and the competition, and he aspires to be the uncontested GOAT. An eighth (or ninth?) ring would go a long way toward supporting that claim.

Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks of all time, and has won five Super Bowls during his stellar NFL career. But what people often fail to notice is how amazing Brady is on the field. His game film shows a quarterback who breaks the pocket, leaving two or three of his receivers behind him on the field. He then tucks the ball away for a few seconds, and then receives the ball back. He then fakes the offense to the outside before throwing the ball deep downfield, where his receivers are still running full speed..
